“I Just Don’t Like Working Out” – Michelle Lewis’s Journey with The Fix Gym Begins

When I first met Michelle Lewis, I could tell she was ready for a change. Her determination to transform her life, especially her relationship with exercise, was evident. Michelle’s story is one that resonates with many of our clients at The Fix Gym. I asked her to share her journey to inspire others who might be facing similar challenges.

Michelle’s Journey Begins

Michelle’s journey with The Fix Gym began much like many others. She was looking to make a lasting change in her life, specifically by learning to love exercise.

Here’s how our conversation went:

The Initial Struggles

Tiger: What was your goal when your fitness journey first began?

Michelle: My goal when I first got started on my fitness journey was to get stronger.

Tiger: What was the major challenge that was keeping you from accomplishing your goal?

Michelle: The major challenge that was keeping me from accomplishing my goal was motivation…or lack thereof. I think it’s twofold: One, I tend to get in my way sometimes and I will not do things that I know are good for me, even though I should do them. And then the other thing is just, I don’t like working out. I just don’t like it.

Many of our clients share Michelle’s initial reluctance and struggle with motivation. The mental barriers she described are common, and overcoming them is often the first step towards a healthier lifestyle.

Discovering The Fix Gym

Tiger: How did you find The Fix Gym?

Michelle: I found The Fix Gym by Googling ‘gyms near me’. I came across several gyms, but The Fix Gym stood out because they didn’t ask for goal pictures of what I wanted to look like. For me, that was really big because it was more about the mental capacity of it than the physical capacity.

Michelle’s decision to choose The Fix Gym was influenced by our unique approach, focusing on the mental and emotional aspects of fitness rather than just physical appearance.

The Initial Experience

Tiger: What was it about The Fix Gym that made you want to train with us?

Michelle: Once I got here and met Tiger, we had a conversation for about an hour. I spilled everything out—my struggles, everything. He made me feel like this was a safe place to work through those struggles. It felt like a better fit than somewhere focused solely on physical goals.

Creating a safe, supportive environment is a cornerstone of The Fix Gym’s philosophy. We believe that understanding our clients’ mental and emotional states is just as important as helping them achieve physical fitness.

Embracing the Program

Tiger: What has your experience of the program been like?

Michelle: At first, I was hesitant because I thought it would be hard and that I couldn’t do it. But then I realized I didn’t have to push myself to the extreme. I could do what I was capable of at this point in my wellness and fitness journey. That kept me coming back.

Michelle’s initial hesitation is a common feeling. The key is to start where you are and gradually build up your capabilities. This approach helps clients build confidence and maintain consistency.

Finding What Works

Tiger:  What do you love about The Fix Gym program?

Michelle: I love the people here. Tiger is amazing. The difference is that I feel safe, no one’s judging me, and I know I can accomplish my goals. It’s going to take time, but I have people holding me accountable.

Feeling safe and supported is crucial for long-term success in any fitness program. At The Fix Gym, we strive to create an environment where clients can thrive without fear of judgment.

Suggestions for Improvement

Tiger: What parts of the program could use some improvement? What would you change about it?

Michelle: It would be cool if all the clients got together once a month for a group activity, like a hike. This would connect people at different stages of their fitness journey and help form a community.

Community support is vital, and Michelle’s suggestion for more group activities is something we’re actively considering to enhance the experience for all our clients.

Achievements and Progress

Tiger: What have you accomplished at The Fix Gym?

Michelle: First of all, exercising regularly. Making it a lifestyle choice rather than a goal for the future. I didn’t know if I could achieve this, but I have. Even when I’m not thrilled to work out, I always feel better afterward.

Tiger: Would you recommend this program to someone just starting their fitness journey?

Michelle: Absolutely. Tiger and his team meet you where you are and scale up from there. It doesn’t feel overwhelming. I started with light weights and now I’m lifting heavier than I ever thought I could. The gradual progression and support make a big difference.

The Fix Gym: A Safe Haven for Fitness

Michelle’s story is a testament to the transformative power of a supportive, understanding fitness environment. At The Fix Gym, we focus on meeting clients where they are and helping them build sustainable, healthy habits. Michelle’s journey from reluctance to empowerment shows that with the right support, anyone can learn to love exercise and make it a part of their lifestyle.
