If you’re like most people looking to get fit at home, you are ready to invest in some exercise equipment.
The problem is there are so many options out there right now it’s hard to know what equipment is right for you and your fitness goals. AND what equipment is a big waste of your money.
The last thing you need is an expensive piece of equipment that just sits there gathering dust and laundry.
So, in this short video I’m going to walk you through my list of essential, must have exercise equipment.
I call them The Big 3 because they’re all you need to achieve almost any fitness goal. Are you ready? Let’s get into it.
The ONLY piece of Equipment that you need to achieve any fitness goal.
Number 1 on my list of essential, must-have exercise equipment may be the only piece of equipment that you need and it will cost you less than $50.
Pretty hard to believe right? But it’s true.
I’m talking about the dumbbell.
What if I told you that you can use a dumbbell to achieve almost any fitness goal?
You can use to lose weight, build muscle, get healthy. You can use it for cardio, you can it for HIIT workouts, you can use it for old school weightlifting, you can even use it for stretch.
With only a single dumbbell, you can work every major (and most of the minor) muscle groups in your body.
I recommend starting with a medium weight dumbbell. Medium weight means that you can curl it about 10 times.
As you work out consistently you may need to invest in a heavier dumbbell at some point but let’s lift that bridge when we get to it.
For now, just start with one medium weight dumbbell because if you know how to use it, it’s the only piece of exercise equipment you need.
Is THIS the most important piece of exercise equipment you can own?
NUMBER 2 on my LIST OF THE BIG 3 essential, must-have exercise equipment, is a very close second.
A strong argument can be made that the foam roller is THE most important piece of equipment that you can own.
Let’s just say that it makes a perfect complement to the dumbbell, which is my number one pick, and between the 2 you have 90% of all the exercise equipment you will ever need.
It’s one of the most dreaded pieces of equipment in the gym and if you’ve encountered one it was probably a pretty painful experience.
But I’m here to tell you that the foam roller is your friend and when you know how to roll out the right way it can be a powerful tool for preventing injuries and MOST important of all, alleviating pain.
There are a lot of options on the market when it comes to Foam rollers. Different shapes, different sizes, some that vibrate, some that are designed for specific parts of your body.
I recommend getting the least expensive foam roller you can find to get started with. You can find one on Amazon for less than $20.
When you get into foam rolling, then you can invest in more specialized rollers, but we’ll discuss more about those a little later.
But now you know why a foam roller is a close second on my list of essential, must-have exercise equipment.
The least sexy piece of exercise equipment to make my big 3 must-have, essentials list.
Number 3 on my list of essential, must-have exercise equipment, is NOT the least sexy piece of exercise equipment to make the list.
Sometimes it’s the simple things that make the biggest difference.
When you think about exercise equipment you always think of the big-ticket items, big weights, fancy machines, equipment that connects to an app on your phone.
For example; there are going to be times when you will need to get down on the floor for your workout. You’re going to want that experience to be as pleasant as possible.
Having something soft under your hands or elbows, when you’re doing work like push-ups and planks, makes those exercise a lot more enjoyable.
The same is true when you are lying on your back for exercises like chest press and crunches. You’re going to want something soft between you and the floor.
As you can see, a workout mat may not be the sexy piece of exercise equipment you can own, but clearly, it’s an essential one. Which is why it’s Number 3 on my list of essential, must-have exercise equipment.
CONCLUSION
That is my short list for the Big 3 essential, must have exercise equipment.
You discovered how with just a single dumbbell, a foam roller, and a workout mat you have all of the exercise equipment you will ever need to achieve any fitness goal you could have.
We also talked about the long list of benefits that you can get from doing any one of these exercises.
