NEWTON’S FIRST LAW: Every object will remain at rest unless compelled to change its state by the action of an external force.
The beginning is the hardest part of any journey.
That’s why today we’re talking about how to get started.
Changing something about ourselves, like how we eat or whether we work out or not is a big deal.
Taking those first steps can be intimidating, especially if you’re anticipating that the journey is going to be a rough one.
By the end of this post, you’ll know how to get yourself moving, even if you’re stuck in a rut.
I think getting started is tough partially because of Newtons First Law.
It takes a lot of energy to get an object at rest to move.
The trick is to build up some momentum so that you have a little help to get going.
Have you ever had to push a car out of a rut?
You can’t just push it straight out. It’s too heavy.
You GOTTA rock it a little.
You push it a little and let it rock back and push again with this time with some momentum.
With every push you build more momentum.
You just keep rocking it until you have enough forward momentum to push your car out of the ruts and on down the road.
Diet and exercise are just like that.
It takes a lot of energy to make changes to your lifestyle.
You have to give yourself a little push to start things moving.
“It takes a lot of energy to make changes to your lifestyle.
You have to give yourself a little push to start things moving.”
Like making one small change.
The smallest / easiest change you can make.
Just a little push to start building up some momentum.
Just keep making little pushes and before you know it you’re out of your rut and rolling on down the road.
